About Dr. Ballard

Jeanne L. Ballard MD, author of the New Ballard Score, is a now-retired associate professor of Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. Dr. Ballard's research and publications have included studies on infants of diabetic mothers, medical and psychological implications of sibling visitation on neonatal intensive care units, survivability of extremely immature neonates, and safer methods for the prevention of meconium aspiration syndrome, as well as her study of the interrelationship between fetal maturation and gestational age.
