Jeanne L. Ballard MD, author of the New Ballard Score, is Professor Emeritus of Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.
Dr. Ballard received her medical degree from the Medical College of Pennsylvania. She completed her residency in pediatrics at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center and her fellowship in neonatology at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.
Board certified in pediatrics and neonatal-perinatal medicine, Dr. Ballard has served as director of Nurseries for Bethesda Hospitals and as attending physician for Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center and the University Hospital of Cincinnati.
A noted author, Dr. Ballard's research and publications have included studies on infants of diabetic mothers, medical and psychological implications of sibling visitation on neonatal intensive care units, survivability of extremely immature neonates, and safer methods for the prevention of meconium aspiration syndrome, as well as her study of the interrelationship between fetal maturation and gestational age.
